Streamer und Bänder sind beim Sichern und Zurückspielen einem sehr hohen Verschleiß ausgesetzt. Dabei kommt es zu Bandabrieb, welcher am Schreib- / Lesekopf hängen bleiben kann. Man sollte daher nach etwa 20 Sicherungen einen Reinigungsdurchgang einlegen, um das Streamerlaufwerk in optimalem Zustand zu halten.
